Junior Software Developer (Project Based)

Project: Part Time Position (est. 6 months)

Conveniently located on Stony Brook University’s campus and with flexible work schedules, students can balance the demands of their education while gaining valuable experience.

As a Part Time Junior Software Developer on the Softheon DGS (Document Generation Service) migration project, you will be responsible for migrating Softheon’s legacy document generation system into a new Softheon product called Softheon DGS. Softheon DGS will transform the way we currently generate documents and consumer correspondence to a more scalable solution. This project is expected to last 3 – 6 months and upon completion may be eligible to turn into a full-time position within Softheon.


Critical Responsibilities

  • Review and understand DGS requirements and use case documentation;
  • Create data structures as basis for legacy migration;
  • Following guidelines, design and implement user-friendly HTML based templates;
  • Convert mockup documents into HTML;
  • Ensure HTML templates meet accessibility requirements, such as WCAG compliance, on the equity portal;
  • Create test cases in Softheon’s automated testing framework;
  • Perform user acceptance testing;
  • Enhance DGS use case documentation;
  • Ensures project follows timeline provided by Senior Management

Position Requirements

  • Currently pursing B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or related degree;
  • Minimum of 16 hours/week;
  • Strong HTML/CSS skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Familiar and comfortable with working in an Agile development environment;
  • Experience with basic web development;
  • Knowledge of JavaScript is a plus
